Burundi is typically an origin built on clean tea and floral notes, and most lots from here are washed for that reason. This coffee is a natural, but the origin still shines. Berry compote and orange blossom sit on top, with a malty Assam tea finish underneath, and the whole cup drinks clean.
This lot comes from Rimiro, a small mountain hill in Burundi's Ngozi region. The name translates to "where we cultivate," and the hill grew taro and rice for generations before coffee arrived. Today it has 10 residents and a washing station serving more than 1,400 surrounding farmers. The producers here are part of Sucafina's IMPACT Beyond program, the same livestock-access initiative behind our recent washed Burundi Ngozi.
Brew it on a pour over to let the orange blossom open up, or pull it on espresso to deepen the Assam finish.
