Burundi Ngozi delivers a cup that is sweet, balanced, and immediately approachable. Fuji apple brightness leads the way, settling into rich butterscotch and a smooth rooibos tea finish that lingers without any heaviness. It is a layered, easygoing coffee that works just as well as a juicy shot of espresso as it does a sweet pour over.
Coffee in Burundi is typically grown by smallholders with around 250 trees, often right in their backyards. Harvesting is done by family members, and cherry is brought to a local washing station where workers trample the parchment in washing tanks for 30 minutes to aid in mucilage removal. This lot is part of Sucafina's IMPACT Beyond program which activates long-term transformation in 5 key areas of sustainability: Living Income, Regenerative Agriculture, Carbon Emissions, Human Rights and Forest Conservation. In this region it helps the farming communities establish a Village Savings and Loan as well as gain access to livestock like goats and pigs. These resources can significantly increase a farm's revenue through fertilizer, milk, and the sale of livestock offspring.
Burundi Ngozi is a versatile, crowd-pleasing coffee that pulls its weight across brew methods. Try it as a juicy shot of espresso or let it open up on a pour over where the apple brightness and butterscotch sweetness really shine.
