The coffee 36 competitors brewed on stage August 21. A washed heirloom lot from Sidamo.

  • Origin revealed on stage August 21
  • Jasmine, apricot, and lemon curd
  • One lot, limited release

The same coffee the competitors got.

On August 21, 36 competitors stepped up at Big Night Live and brewed this exact coffee live on stage at the American AeroPress Championship. Nobody knew what it was. Not the competitors, not the audience, not the buyers brewing it at home.

Friday night the answer came from the stage: Ethiopia Ayla Bombe, a washed heirloom lot from Sidamo, grown between 1,950 and 2,000 meters. Phillippe Akira Kato brewed it better than anyone and took the U.S. title.

If you grabbed a bag before the reveal, now’s the moment to see if you guessed right. And if you didn’t, it’s still on sale, the same coffee the competitors used.
